Her grandfather was Finnish,left Finland in 1908, and changed his last name to Anderson (from Saarijärvi) as an immigrant in his new home in North America. Pamela also has Russian in her blood from her mothers side. Pam was famous from the moment she was born as she was thought to be the first child born on Canada's Centennial Day,however it was later discovered that there was a claim of another child having been born two hours earlier on that day. After graduating her secondary school (which generally is similar to a United States high school – grades 8-12) in 1985 she went on to Vancouver Canada and became a fitness instructor. Then in 1989 while at a BC Lions football game with some friends, the “Crowd Cam” zoomed in on her and the Labatt's t-shirt she was wearing for all to see on the stadium screen. The crowd cheered, Labatt’s offered her a modeling job, and later that year (in 1989) she was on the cover of Playboy magazine. Go Lions! She moved to LA (Los Angeles, California USA) and in February 1990 was a Playboy Playmate centerfold. The rest is history; more Playboy and many other shoots, perfecting her breast implants (she tried a few sizes), television (best known as C. J. Parker on Baywatch),film, video, modeling, advertising, authoring a book, a cabaret, spokeswoman for various ideas, and much more. Pamela Denise Anderson holds both American and Canadian citizenship. She also has had a number of tabloid popular romances, marriages, and divorces. The last three well known partnerships, as of mid 2009 involved model Marcus Schenkenberg,singer Kid Rock (Robert J. Ritchie), and Paris Hilton'sex Rick Salomon.Of course, there were other sensationalized relationships in her life prior to this. Pam is also a vegetarian,helps to gather funds for help with AIDS and HIV,speaks out for the American Liver Foundation,and is huge on animal rights issues. Pamela Anderson also petitioned United States President Barack Obama urging the legalization of marijuana.
